Velina Mirincheva

As one of three founding partners at ARRUS, Velina is committed to understanding people and the spaces and buildings they use, and how their spatial behavior relates to the socio-economic processes that are happening in the city. She carries forward a vision of sustainable people-based urbanism, contextualized and attuned architectures that belong to their sites and spaces, and a deep responsibility for making a difference for the better.

She leads the Qatar and Bulgaria offices of ARRUS and is focused on building strong clients' relationships, close in-house team collaborations and an international reach. Her meticulous approach to delivering projects assures quality of product and build client's trust.

Her vast overarching urban knowledge, particularly in Qatar, has been motivated by major local long-term projects, such as the Regeneration Framework for Zones 15&16, Public Realm Upgrade for Downtown Doha areas and the Qatar Urban Design Compendium. All of Velina’s urban projects benefit from her advocacy for GIS-based analytical tools and parametric modeling, that assist - at all scales - to arrive at more optimized and better adapted urban design solutions.

Velina publishes regularly, recently and most notable for the Architectural Review and Architectural Journal. She is also a frequent lecturer and occasional research consultant at Qatar Foundation and Qatar University, often on the subject of urban spatial analysis and urban economics, which are the subjects of her PhD work at the Bartlett, UCL.

Prior to ARRUS, as an Associate Director of Makower Architects, and for the majority of her tenure, she led all Doha-based projects and office operations. Her other previous projects in Doha included urban design work on several of the FIFA 2022 precincts with the SCDL; masterplanning the extension of Mall of Qatar and BIM Management Role on Manateq’s QEZ1 Pilot Commercial Development.
