Khalifa Residences is a boutique hotel apartments building amidst a densely populated neighbourhood and within a street edge in dire need for regeneration.
The design concept allows the building to start forming a consistent street edge and also to engage with all sides. This is achieved through the combination of large and small openings, which provide all-round views, while maintaining privacy and shading – through provision of projections and patterned screens. The small and large openings are designed as two (2) networks – major and minor, which interplay to create a dynamic elevation for a building which is quite constrained in its dimensions and needs to optimize its floor plates.
